How many of us are procrastinators?  Tim Urban in his Ted Talk titled Inside the mind of a Master Procrastinator describes what goes through his mind when he decides to procrastinate.  He describes how he even put off writing his entire 90 page senior thesis until three days before it was due. He explains that procrastinating not only harms you when you are trying to complete something on a deadline, but also harms you when you are trying to achieve a goal.  Procrastinators do not only continuously put off school assignments, and work projects until the day before their deadlines, they also put off opening their new business, starting a family or fixing a major problem in their life. Tim Urban claims that everyone is a procrastinator in some way because no one has truly fully taken the steps to achieve everything that they want to in life.

Time Urban really made his talk especially impactful with his creative use of visuals.  He designed his own visuals and made them comedic which kept the audience engaged his whole Ted Talk.  He also continuously made strong connections between the visuals and the audience which makes his topic even more relevant to the interests of his audience. Urban varies the speed of his talk throughout to emphasize emotions of excitement and misfortune, which keep his audience connected.  One flaw that I saw in his speaking style was that he always looked down, which bothered me because I like to be able to see the speaker’s facial expressions throughout Ted Talks. Urban did however seem extremely knowledgeable on his Ted Talk topic and his interest in the subject helped make the audience interested.
