Welcome to my personal page. Here you can learn a bit about me and my interests. First, my family: Robin and I have been married since graduations from college. She has recently retired from a happy career as an elementary school teacher. We have lived in Robbinsville, New Jersey, Ithaca, New York and State College, Pennsylvania. And for shorter periods in Switzerland, Italy, France, and England.
We have two daughters and between them, five grandchildren – a great treat for us. One family is local and the other is close – only a three hour drive. We are fortunate.
Now my research: I work in applied statistics and simulation, typically linking those topic areas. At Penn State, I teach related courses: SCM 200H Introduction to Business Statistics (Honors), BAN 840 Predictive Analytics for Business, and SCIS 545, Supply Chain Simulation. To learn about my publications, you can visit my Google Scholar page. I have a long history of engagement in the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) and three of its communities, the Simulation Society, the Quality, Statistics and Reliability section, and the Data Mining Society. You can learn more about these at the INFORMS page. I have the most extensive connection with simulation. One of my current interests is the history of the simulation field. There is an interesting compendium of interviews with trailblazers in our field and much more at the Computer Simulation Archive, hosted by the NC State University Libraries. You can find my full professional background in my vita, here.
Finally, my hobbies. I am interested in cars (it was my first word as an infant!). I had two special ones: a 1937 Pontiac, and a 2006 Jaguar XKR. I had my fun with the Jaguar and have sold it to another enthusiast, while the Pontiac is running well after a summer of repairs.
