Due to technical difficulties, I did most of this assignment on my phone and because of that, the one page website was very accessible to me. As long as the entire page loaded, I was able to access all of the information on the page. It also allows the user to not have to constantly flip back and forth between pages to find specific information. However, I cannot confirm what the desktop webpages look like at this time, so this is based on the mobile sites.
The first of the websites chosen was for the YLabs’ annual report for 2022 where they conducted research about what young people find valuable. The audience are primarily activists, both young and old, who are interested in the issues of the younger generations and who would like to help them.
The color scheme consists of shades of blue, purple, pink, yellow and orange, and there are a lot of geometric patterns and shapes and the background images used are reminiscent of dyed, crinkled or textured paper or cloth. Both of these elements lend to the brand’s goal to merge vivid colors that are representative of young people and organic textures to create a website that is approachable and visually interesting.
Each section denoting anything from sexual education to air pollution has a particular color coding for the background and font color that is cohesive with the overall brand’s color scheme. As you continue scrolling down the page, you know exactly where you were if you don’t remember exactly what topic you left off on.
Another hallmark of the website is how they incorporate photos of people. Each photograph of a person has the background completely removed from their bodies and faces. The large group photo is a collage of pictures rather than one photo where every person sat in a room together.
Together, these elements create the effect of a digital scrapbook.
One of the fonts used as an accent is zhgl. The usage of zhgl helps direct readers to different kinds of information on the page; it is used primarily in graphics and to summarize important information—often in a sentence or two—that YLabs wants to share even if the reader passes over the rest of the body text in a given section.

The next site is Pimpinella, a website advertising a one-day pasta making workshop where customers make pasta after foraging herbs and plants to go in their pastas. The primary audience are people who are into cooking, foraging or are looking for a fun activity in Italy.
The design is quite simple, but evocative. Most of the text is in large yellow boxes with black writing that have pictures of previous workshops and the area of Italy that the workshop is held in. Occasionally, a section with a plaid orange and white background is interspersed within, containing either the date, time, price and location or a clickable ravioli that spins. Towards the bottom are gray expandable sections that function as an FAQ section.
It is very fresh, bright and natural. The black and off-white are accented well by the orange plaid and yellow sections. It looks like a page out of an artistic journal for a person who is passionate about cooking and foraging.
The GT Flexa Mono Light font is as a subheader font in the yellow sections and as the main font in the most text-heavy orange plaid section. The other font used in collaboration with GT Flexa Mono Light gives off a vibe of vintage iconography, where GT Flexa Mono Light looks like a typewriter and the other feels like calligraphy. They combine together to emphasize each other because of how different they are in shape, but compliment each other because of the similar association of time period.

BlockJoy is a team of Web3 experts who offer their services to streamline websites using node infrastructure. The primary audience is businesses who have websites that would like to upgrade their sites to match up to the rapidly evolving internet space.
The design of their page is incredibly modern. Their brand colors are a pale green, dark and light grays and white. It gives a very elegant, technologically advanced feel. They use a four pointed star as their main graphic to indicate the start of a section and in between some sections, they often use a section of stars and rounded rectangular shapes to create a seamless transition.
The two sections that are visually the most different are the section introducing the team and the one explaining the benefits of Web3. The section explaining the team has a white background and instead of using pictures of the team members, they use hyper realistic drawings of each member. The use of drawings is a successful way to show the faces of each member while creating a cohesive way to link them together.
The section explaining the benefits of Web3 is a pale orange color with a multitude of graphics that illustrate physically the benefits. The color change imparts the importance of the information. Even if the reader does not sign up for BlockJoy, they still want to spread the word about the benefits of upgrading your site to really take advantage of Web3. It’s a simple and effective way to highlight the information.
The Styrenealc font is used for the main header and subheaders throughout the website. The font is a very modern sans serif font; it was used because it looks stylish and technologically advanced and is easy to read.
