TED Talk Reflection

Initially, when the professor introduced us to the TED talk assignment, I was really excited. Till now, I had just watched TED talks, and that too on YouTube. I realised that finding a topic that appeals everyone and that is/has been popular among the masses is really a tedious job. Then, it is required that you start digging more information on the topic, and I am really thankful to the professor to help me find all the resources easily that I could use to make the talk more effective. Well, by the time, I was ready with the content and the outline, I realised that the day of presentation was super close and became a bit stressed, as I wasn’t confident of my speech, delivery and memory, so that I do not miss any important points while presenting it. I practiced speaking it many times to get better and this stuff and then, the presentation day. I walk to the library with my mobile in my hand, a bit nervous, going through the outline again and again and trying not to lose my confidence. Finally, when it was my turn to present, I just told myself that everything would be fine, and I think that that happened as everyone in the room seemed pretty happy and agreed with whatever I said. Also, their views were reflected in their comments, so I felt pretty joyful that I was not only able to complete it, but appeal to everyone in the room with my views on the topic. I chose reforms in inclusive education as my topic, as I really feel that everyone should be given equal opportunities. I am really attached to the special kids and was shocked to see how they were treated in the past years. Also, I feel that if we start making changes to the public places, and education, we really can think of bringing greater reforms in other sectors. This is the reason that my major focus was on reforms in education and accessibility around and at public places.

I also feel pretty good about getting all the content organised in an appropriate way and use the visual aid effectively, because it is true that images might speak more than words sometimes. For the time limit, I know I went a bit over, but I do not feel dejected at it because I was able to deliver all the information that I had researched about and gathered. Overall, I feel happy and satisfied with my performance but also feel, that I could have done better to approach more people at the same time.

Through my experience, I realized that many a times, we might have worked really hard for something, but our habit of questioning our abilities might stop us from doing well and attain our goals.
