One thought on “Bureaucracy and its many many problems

  1. Hey, I really enjoyed reading your post this week. I think that is a very interesting take on the problem at hand. I think everyone can agree that the current state of the bureaucracy is not a good one, but it is important to look deeper into the issue to find the causes. I think it is also important to look at potential solutions, because as a citizen I hope there are some available. I completely agree that our handling of covid has been a little messy. There has been widespread misinformation, and never enough masks, tests, vaccines, etc. Although the pandemic was sprung on us and these are unprecedented times, it is important that the bureaucracy stay up to date on problems and try to tackle these things head on, not wait to be reactionary. In an article by the washington post they wrote, “The government’s halting response to the coronavirus pandemic represents the culmination of chronic structural weaknesses, years of underinvestment and political rhetoric that has undermined the public trust.” I thought was very true because the government has had very little ability to react to problems quickly and it makes me question whether the structure itself is the problem. Regarding the military, I personally never really understood the massive budget we have for it, but like you said what is the point of those giant projects if we are not able to use them. That plane you talked about seems very innovative but without the budget necessary what is the point. There are a lot of questions that come to mind when I think of the bureaucracy and how it operates. Although I am not able to see results for a lot of those problems, I think it is important as citizens to keep the pressure on those positions, so they don’t become complacent. Overall, I really enjoyed your post and I cant wait to hear more about what you have to say.
