This world is full of nature. From the high peaks of the mountains to the dark depths of the ocean to the greenery of the jungle, there is a lot to find in nature. We are surrounded by nature, every step we take, under our feet is nature. We are always connected to nature, even if it does not feel like we may be. There is a part of ourselves that came from nature. Generations have been made on evolution, so there is almost an instinctive connection between the atmosphere we live in and the animals around us. How can we portray our connection to nature around us? This concept is what I challenged myself to bring across this project. Using two passions of mine, dance, and photography, I combined them to showcase an interrelation between a dancer and the nature around them, but more importantly what is their relationship with nature. Dancers are trained to improv; to be able to create movement in the instant, and using that skill, I asked the dancers to dance as if they were an animal in nature, and using photography, I captured their movement. The dancers’ animals could relate to the setting they were placed in, or had the option to choose their animals because of their tie to the species. They went through a journey of movement, feeling through heights and gestures to find it within themselves how they feel bonded to the animals. It is a journey of self-evaluation, and reflection to understand what lies deep down beneath our bodies. Please enjoy my work and take a moment to reflect on your inner nature.
