Haunted Places OUTSIDE Philly??

Believe it or not, Pennsylvania is haunted: confirmed. And yeah, Eastern State Penitentiary doesn’t own all the ghosts around Philly…

Happy Halloween by the way! In the spirit of the holiday, let’s get scary. So, Perkasie (my hometown) has a ghost hunter named George Bruno. Perkasie is an extremely old town, with a lot of historical sites, so a few ghosts here and there honestly would not be all too surprising. Well one night, as George was walking through a tunnel off 7th Street, he claims he felt a cold breeze come and go quickly. At home when he developed the photos he had taken in the tunnel, he saw four figures walking in a straight line about halfway down the tunnel. Later, he began collecting ghost stories from residents of Perkasie, and compiled them into a book entitled, Sleep With the Lights On: Volume One The Ghosts of Perkasie.

Here are some of the haunted places in the suburbs of southeastern Pennsylvania:

Rising Sun Inn- Telford, PA

The Rising Sun Inn on Allentown in Franconia was the site of a recent paranormal investigation by the City Limits Paranormal Society out of Easton, Pa.

Scary Mary apparently roams the halls and rooms of this local inn, and people have reported seeing her and hearing voices from the second floor. Cleaning staff have also experienced furniture being moved around when they turn their backs. I’ve personally been to a few wedding receptions and holiday parties at a barn behind this inn, and though I’ve never seen any ghosts, I would not be surprised- the place is in a pretty secluded area and it can get pretty creepy if you ask me! In this short clip, you can actually see a faint apparition walking across the middle of the room.

Bucksville House Bed and Breakfast- Kintnersville, PA

This building was constructed in 1795 and several ghosts supposedly roam the halls, including a tall man in a black hat, a woman dressed in white, and a young mischievous boy. These brave people took a walk through of the house, and recorded some voices and whispers, though hard to hear.

Keith House- Horsham, PA

Keith House- Horsham, PA

Three ghosts occupy this historical building: Maggie Graeme, her husband, and a servant without a head. This video was taken in 2010, and it’s a clip from an independent investigation. At 1:30, the ghost responds to requests to turn the light on and off- scary stuff. Throughout the 8 minute long video, the investigators ask the ghost a series of questions, to which the ghost responds by turning the light on or off.

Black Bass Hotel- New Hope, PA
In operation since 1745, this hotel has witness some gruesome events- one being the fatal stabbing of a former innkeeper. Guests and workers alike have seen a pool of blood appear at the sight of the stabbing, and have also seen a woman holding a revolver on some occasions.

Lehigh University Library in 1896

Lehigh University, Bethlehem PA

Students will swear that the school library is haunted by an elderly man and also by Lucy Packer, the daughter of Lehigh University’s founder, Asa Packer. Lucy will flicker the lights at the end of every night, or so legend has it.

Aaron Burr House- New Hope, PA

This historical site is named after former Vice President Aaron Burr because many of his friends lived here in the late 18th century. But Burr’s ghost has been spotted on the second floor on several occasions, and he apparently tugs on the clothing of some guests.
