The first of many happy posts :)

Hi everybody! I am actually really excited about this blog, mostly because I LOVE talking about things that make me happy. My goal of this blog is to project ways to be positive in a college environment, because it can be tough at times! We experience a ton of emotions as freshmen in college, and it’s easy to get discouraged or lazy (sometimes it’s O.K. to be a little lazy though don’t worry). I hope I can be helpful to those who are looking for ways to experience college in a fun way!Related image

A little fact for you, I did my AP English senior project on the study behind and science of happiness. If that doesn’t scream optimist I don’t know what does. You might notice throughout reading my blog that I do NOT like being upset, simply because I think it’s wasted time that I could spend being happy.

Although it’s only the third week of school, I’d like to just go over some of the things I like to do here that take my mind off any negativity in my life (yes I do get sad I just don’t like to think about it). You might read this and think “wow she’s super boring that doesn’t sound fun at all,” and if so, I’m going to leave some links to websites that list all kinds of activities that this college has to offer, there is never nothing going on here, which is so cool and something I’m so not used to.

Something I want to quickly emphasis, DON’T BE SHY. It is so easy to make friends here. I guarantee you will find someone that shares the same interests as you. Introduce yourself to someone, just be friendly in general. It can only benefit you. When you get to class ask whoever is sitting nearby what their name is, where they live, you know the general first interaction stuff. I did this in one of my classes and the girl next to me is a great friend of mine now! Here are some tips from college mentors/orientation leaders that are pretty helpful!

GET INVOLVED I CAN’T STRESS THIS ENOUGH. Sign up for something, anything! If it interests you at all, sign up and go to a meeting. You most likely won’t regret it. I know a lot of students don’t think they have time to be a part of groups or clubs, but as an honors student who has a crammed schedule and piles of homework every night, I am still involved in 3 clubs that meet weekly and I love them all. This really helps you meet upperclassmen and they are great to know. They give me helpful advice everyday and it’s much needed.Image result for clubs at penn state

Lastly I want to encourage you to just look online and see what’s going on around campus. There is always something to do somewhere; this past week I’ve see like 5 bouncy houses all around campus. That’s sweet. What other campus does cool stuff like that??? There’s also movies playing at the HUB every weekend! New movies too! You can refer to this website to see what’s going on around campus!

State College PA things to do

I hope this first post was somewhat helpful! These were just a few things that contributed to my great attitude towards this amazing college. For future posts, I will be talking about personal issues I have had while at PSU and how I overcame them!
