INFORMATION FOR ENROLLED PARTICIPANTS

Welcome to Saturday Art School! We look forward to seeing your child in the Saturday Art classes. It should be a very exciting semester!

Check-in

For the first class, Saturday, October 5th everyone will need to begin by checking in at our registration table, located on the ground floor of the Patterson Building, just off of Curtin Road, across from the Palmer Museum of Art.  Classes begin at 9:00 a.m.

*Please note: Penn State Home Football games on the following dates. Please allow extra time on these dates to get around the football traffic.

Saturday, October 5th – PSU vs. UCLA

Saturday, November 2nd – PSU vs. OSU

Saturday, November 9th – PSU vs. Washington

After you check-in, you will be directed to your child’s classroom.  Classes this semester will be held in the Patterson Building and the Arts Cottage.

Please escort your child to the classroom so that their teachers can meet you.

Check-Out

We also ask that you come to the classroom to pick up your child when classes end at 11:00 a.m. sharp every Saturday. You or the pick-up person you designated will be asked to show ID before you/they can leave with your child every week. We hope this small inconvenience of showing ID is balanced by the extra measure of safety it provides for students (and is reassurance for parents/guardians and teachers) and by the opportunity, it gives you to establish a relationship with your child’s teachers.

Parking

Parking lots on campus are now monitored 24/7. To avoid a ticket please carefully review the parking options listed below

Click here to view Saturday Art Parking Options

Yellow Lots

  • On Saturdays, any Faculty/Staff or Student permit can park in Green N or Yellow E lots.
  • For those without permits, we have made exceptions for the camp to park on Saturdays with flashers, in a legal space, no reserved spaces, only in Green N and Yellow E for these Saturdays.  Regularly, visitors do not have that option.
  •  Community passes are available for $12/month.

Field-Trips

At different times during the semester, each class may be involved in short “field trips” to various places on campus such as the Palmer Museum of Art, the Lion Shrine, Hort Woods, the Arboretum and Children’s Garden, etc. The classes will be accompanied by your child’s teacher and at least one teaching assistant or professor. Please let us know if there are any restrictions that should be placed on your child’s participation in these activities.

Dress Code

Please remember most activities involve art materials that are unavoidably messy and liable to stain clothing. We encourage your child to dress in comfortable and expendable clothes.

Class Cancellations

If unforseen circumstances forces us to cancel a Saturday class, we will try to contact you by email. Please let us know if there is a better way to contact you.
