Net Zero Energy Community

Sponsored by National Science Foundation (NSF) and Department of Energy (DOE)

Project Description

Since 2015, our lab has partnered with the Historic Green Village, a real world net zero energy community on Ana Maria Island, Florida, to investigate the modeling and control of net zero energy communities. In addition to the energy management system, which collects energy usage and renewable energy generation data, we have installed local weather station and solar irradiance sensors. Based on that information, we have create an open source Modelica Net Zero Energy Community library and performed various research on the operation of the community for grid-connected mode and island mode.
