What is GLOBE?
It is not a ornament for your desktop – sorry. It does however have a lot to do with the world. GLOBE is an international program for environmental education. GLOBE stands for Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment. It was founded in 1994 and launched on Earth Day of 1995. U.S. Vice President Al Gore heavily supported the program and hoped that it would help promote more environmental learning. The program took off and now has member schools in over 110 countries.
Penn State Schuylkill just recently joined as a teaching school and is working on completing our paperwork for partner status. We plan to host our first class using GLOBE protocols in fall 2020. So, keep a look out for updates to our page and our associated posts.
