Fall 2024 – Gaby Navarro

This poster will examine exactly how what we now know today as “Las Vegas”, got its start. I will highlight how crime played a major role in the development of the city that we know now and how it morphed from a Western frontier to be the “Den of Sin.” It will also discuss the key people that contributed to the city becoming a sanctuary for young men to indulge in behaviors that would be frowned upon anywhere else in society, as well as how criminals are the reason that the city flourished. Finally, I will cover the behind-the-scenes components of modern casinos that can be seen today that were inspired by the criminals that helped start it all.
