A couple of weeks ago, our assistant principal sent the faculty this video to watch. It is an interesting comparison of our schools/performance with Japan’s. I thought it fit will with last night’s class discussion. It is worth the 3 minutes it takes to watch it.

Thanks for sharing. I’m wondering if Japan has given an explanation to their decreased test score in math. It’s interesting to see different cultural rituals. I just watched 2 Million Minutes (Thanks, Peter!) and the documentary highlighted 2 US, Chinese, and Indian students and their thoughts on school, their future, and life. 3 different cultures with different rituals and priorities. It would be interest to distill down what exactly creates good schools and high student achievement. And are these two things necessarily related? Interesting stuff!
