This research paper investigates the benefit of using cognitive behavioral therapy for patients who are diagnosed with cystic fibrosis (CF) and the effect CBT has on their depression and anxiety levels. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) includes various interventions like sketching, music therapy, and mindfulness. The proposed study contains 200 participants, ranging in age from 16 to 75, recruited via hospitals, CF clinics, and internet platforms. The sample will include participants with various gender identities, and an attempt will be made to represent the whole spectrum of gender diversity. The pre-existing anxiety and depression examination will determine where the patients are before and after intervention. The independent variable is the intervention group that will receive CBT, and the dependent variable is the anxiety and depression levels of the patient post-intervention. Participants will be divided into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group will receive CBT for two 2-week sessions with a 1-week break in between. The anxiety and depression levels of participants will be measured before, mid, and after the intervention. The study’s approach is descriptive, with an emphasis on how CBT affects anxiety and depression levels. The expected results from this research will show a considerable reduction in the depression and anxiety levels of participants who received CBT. If CBT is found to be effective in reducing the anxiety and depression levels of CF patients, then healthcare professionals can recommend it to improve their quality of life.
