Outreach Activities
Objectives
Moving into the execution phase, ECO-DRYFOREST initiated some outreach meetings with restoration actors at the national level in prelude of the socio-ecological data collection in Malawi. The informational and outreach meeting brought together diverse stakeholders working on restoration policy implementation from the national to local levels.
This outreach activity was held on July 3, 2025 with the full research team present in person together with key stakeholders across restoration science-policy-practice. This opportunity further enabled the research team to brief the practitioners on the need for the research and how outcomes from the research could be translated to benefit restoration policy development in context but also regionally and globally.
The actors engaged include 12 types of stakeholders from government to civil society organizations (national and international). This includes actors from:
- Government officers from the departments of Forestry, Land Resources, Local Governance
- Country-level restoration platform actors
- United Nations Organizations and International NGOs: UNDP, FAO, ICRAF, World Vision, and Catholic Relief Services
