This fall, I had multiple lifelong learning projects underway on campus:
- Benchmarking – 189 first-year students in Math 021, ENGL 15, PSU 008, and LL ED 005 took ELLI (Effective Lifelong Learning Inventory) in August to provide benchmark data for our first-year students on lifelong learning indicators
- Control group – Students in Math 021 and one section of ENGL 15 received no direct instruction in developing lifelong learning attributes during the course of the semester. They took ELLI again in early December and the pre/post semester scores were compared using a matched pair t-test. No statistically significant differences were found per/post semester in any of hte lifelong learning dimensions
- Intervention groups – Students in PSU 008, LL ED, and one section of ENGL 15 received instruction on elements directly or indirectly impacting lifelong learning attributes and scores pre/post semester were compared using matched pair t-tests. Statistically significant differences were found in all three groups.
Analysis is still underway and final results will be reported here.
