Ron McConnell is a seasoned business executive and health care professional with strong ties to the Central PA region. He has held leadership positions in health care and higher education for more than twenty-five years.
As a Senior Vice President at Altoona Hospital, Ron helped to lead the effort that culminated in the merger of Altoona Hospital and Bon Secours Holy Family Hospital in 2004. Ron was appointed Chief Operating Officer of the newly formed entity, Altoona Regional Health System, and then led integration efforts of the two newly merged hospitals. Later, Ron helped to guide merger efforts between Altoona Regional and UPMC – resulting in the formation of UPMC Altoona in 2013. Ron remained with UPMC for more than 5 years as the Altoona entity fully integrated with UPMC.
Currently, Ron is an Assistant Teaching Professor in State College at Penn State University in the Master of Health Administration Program. He is also working with Curry Holdings Inc. helping to facilitate their overall business strategy worldwide.
Ron is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), holds an MBA degree with emphasis in finance from Gannon University, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Penn State University.
Ron is very active in his community – serving currently as the Vice Chairmen of the Altoona Blair County Development Corporations (ABCD), a founding board member with Operation Our Town, and he volunteers time and effort with many other local non-profit organizations.
Ron resides in Altoona and is a passionate bicyclist, outdoorsman, lover of fine wine, craft beer, great food, his wife, Lauren (a PSU Altoona professor), son, Benjamin and daughter, Fiona.
