Slender Man

Due to recent news and cinema in the works, I felt obligated to inform you of Slender Man.

Origin:

Although Edgar Allan Poe remains my favorite horror writer, H.P. Lovecraft still Related imagecreated wonderful horror stories as well. Lovecraft’s most popular piece is Call ofCthulhu, which describes an ominous creature, that became popular through the internet and became known as the Slender Man.

For those of you who don’t know, Slender Man is a tall, thin man wearing a black suit with no face. He is said to stalk and torment children.

I wish I could present a better introduction to how Slender Man became popular, but it is what it is.

In June 2009, Something Awful, a “comedy web forum,” posted a competition for something scary. Eric Knudsen posted a photograph of children with a creepy man behind them, accompanying the picture with the text that suggested that those children went missing. It was supposed to be a meme, but a large amount of people became fascinated with this that the internet exploded with more and more pictures and stories about the Slender Man.

Slender man is not truly a urban legend that was passed down from generations to scare children, but it’s reputation does enough to scare everyone.
