Internet Stars: Vine Edition

I’m going to be completely honest here: I believe there should be an Oscar category dedicated completely to vines. I am constantly in awe of just what lengths people go through to capture the true essence of humanity in a short six seconds. A great vine is nothing short of art, and speaks volume of the millennial generation. What is even more fascinating is just what sorts of vines that capture the public’s attention. So, for this week’s post I’m looking at a different sort of Internet star: vine stars and some 6-seconds-of-famers.

1. Thomas Sanders-The man is a vine genius with the voice fit for a mega motion film trailer. He is more commonly known as Foster Dawg across social media, and was the winner of the winner of the 2014 Favorite Vine Celebrity Contest (which I just recently learned is a legitimate thing). His usually comedy involved narrating stranger’s lives and seeing their reactions, as well as “Disney Pranks” in real life.

2. Jerome Jarre- He is that French guy with the slightly uncomfortable stare who some how always ends up on my twitter feed. He has almost 8 million followers on vine and apparently is one of the first “Snapchat celebrities”, which is some sort of new growing genre. This guy is not afraid to go to great lengths for his work. In fact, the police detained him last October because he tried to board a flight wearing a Speedo and carrying a five-foot rubber duck. “Do it for the Vine” is the motto, I guess.

3. KingBach-With over 10 million followers, Andrew Bachelor is a vine sensation. His vines about generation Y are always just so accurate, and I find myself laughing because I definitely do the very same things. Bachelor is also a rising star in the film industry, with roles and collaborations with a number of celebrities. Not to mention “that backflip, though.”

4.Rudy Mancuso-He may be Brazilian and Italian, but he plays a great Spanish Superhero on vine. Mancuso makes all his villains look “estúpid.”

5. Josh Peck- Who would’ve thought that adorably chubby Josh from Drake and Josh would end up being a pretty attractive vine star? Certainly not me. Although he is still trying to bag roles as an actor, his vine career has been very successful too. His best vines, in my opinion, are the ones where he references his past on Nickelodeon.

6.Get-Out-Me-Car- This mom and daughter duo truly took the internet by storm in July in six seconds. Something about that “broom broom” and strange animal noise at the end just get me every time, and I find these two to be so cute and weird. I thank them for all the strange memes that were born because of their vine and I just hope these two are happy doing whatever is that they do.

7.Chipotle Kid- This is a vine classic. In fact, a vine masterpiece. Someone give this child an award and some chipotle for capturing the essence of the white girl craze of 2013. Of all the people on this list, I would say he is the true vine icon.

Those last three vines though….Nice post Pragya! I’ve seen Josh Peck’s vines and they’re absolutely hilarious. His quirky, randomness still makes him funny (I miss Drake and Josh so much!). Also, I’ve never seen the Chipotle kid but that pretty much sums up life on campus. I’m still not sure what the hype about it is.
