Recently, my roommate started to take cinnamon tablets to help her keep off the freshman 15. I always thought this was a weight loss myth. I’ve heard people say to sprinkle some cinnamon on your food or put a cinnamon stick in your water, but I never thought it would make any significant affect. I decided to do some research to find out if cinnamon tablets can really help and see if I should be taking them too.
According to Livestrong, “According to a study published by “The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition,” cinnamon has been linked to weight loss because the spice stimulates, or increases, the metabolism of glucose. Glucose, or blood sugar, is a main source of energy and affects how hungry or energetic you feel.” The Livestrong article also tells some of the benefits cinnamon can have. It says, “A benefit of cinnamon is its ability to delay food from progressing through the digestive system. Food is delayed in the stomach and, as a result, leaves you feeling full for a longer period of time. This results in a reduction of hunger and causes you to eat less. In addition to satiation, the active compound in cinnamon is methyl hydroxy chalcone polymer (MHCP) and works to increase glucose metabolism, according to the USDA. Your blood sugar level determines whether you burn fat or store it. Increasing your glucose metabolism through the use of cinnamon tablets burns excess glucose, which is stored as fat in your body. In short, feeling less hungry and burning excess glucose more effectively equates to eating less and losing weight.”
Taking cinnamon tablets seems so appealing after reading these amazing benefits it has! So how much mg of these tablets should we be using per day? Buzzle says, “For better results, it is best to consume cinnamon in the form of capsules or pills. � – � teaspoon of powdered cinnamon is equivalent to 2,000 mg. Taking 4 capsules of 500 mg daily, that is, one with breakfast, two along with lunch, and last one with dinner should be fine.”
What do you guys think? Do you think this sounds legit and would you personally try doing this to lose weight? I think this is the most natural weight loss pill you could ever find. We should still exercise regularly and eat well, but taking a cinnamon tablet will definitely move the weightloss process along quicker.
