The “Who is That Weirdo and Why is He Sitting Alone in the Back”? of it All

Hello, All!

My name is Sam Russell, and I was never really big on the experiments, or reactions involved in the day-to-day life of my high school science classes, so I never really became interested in the sciences in general. I have a great appreciation for everything scientists do, and everything they tell me about the world around me, but unfortunately I just can’t see myself being a scientist whatsoever. Instead, I was drawn to a different way of life. I love to tell stories. I love it so much that that’s what I want to do with my life. In the tenth grade I was struck with a great desire to write television. This realization of what I wanted from the world came from a show called Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and my coffin was sealed by shows like Battlestar Galactica, and The West Wing. The writing was sharp and distinct. I started to be able to tell who was writing each episode just by the way it was written. I became much more in love with shows I had already loved for years before like The Office and SNL. That was it for me; I needed to be a part of that world.
My favorite show on right now is Parks and Recreation, season five of which just came out on DVD today! Here’s a blooper from the DVD!
As for why I’m taking this course, I really need more science credits, and happened to stumble upon this course. I am very excited about it! I can’t wait until we have more discussions, as the topics covered on our syllabus seem very interesting!
So in summary:
  • I’m Sam
  • I’m a communications major
  • And this show is fantastic and you all should watch it:
