Can eating red meat cause and increase the risk of cancer and heart disease? There are some red meats that have a lot of saturated fat which raises blood cholesterol. So for heart disease that can cause it. However when it comes to cancer, there is not clear answer.

According to http://www.webmd.com/food-recipes/features/the-truth-about-red-meat, ” A recent National Institutes of Health- AARP study of more than a half- million older Americans concluded that people who ate the most red meat and processed meat over a 10-year -period were likely to die sooner than those who ate smaller amounts.” Researched have suggested that instead of cutting meat out completely, to bake it and poach it rather than grilling or frying it. Some of the worse red meats; hot dogs and sausage have been found to cause heart failure and death.

In Conclusion, i believe that red meat effects the heart and cardiovascular the most. Eating too much is bad, but having some is ok. I have also concluded that women who eat red meat have a very high chance of cancer.

Reading this article definitely makes me nervous because I’m a huge fan of red meat. As with anything else, moderation is important to be healthy. I’ve heard that red meat can be bad for you, but I know that it is also packed with vitamins, iron, and protein. Do these outweigh the negative effects, equalize them, or are the negative impacts so serious that any benefits at all don’t matter? Even if the meat is packed with protein or healthy nutrients, it wouldn’t matter much if it really did increase the risk for cancer or shortened life span. I checked out an article (http://authoritynutrition.com/is-red-meat-bad-for-you-or-good/) to see if red meat really did cause these effects, and the website offers an interesting answer. It says that red meat increased the risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and death – but only when it was processed. Unprocessed red meat was not associated or did not cause any of these effects. This distinction is huge for this topic. When it comes to cancer, the same rules about processed/unprocessed meat apply, and another factor may depend on the way the meat is cooked. So if red meat is cooked in certain ways, then it could cause no harm at all. The article also has an entire section dedicated to “Correlation Does Not Equal Causation”, which directly addresses what we learned in class. If you are worried about red meat being dangerous, all you have to avoid is the processed type. Red meat can still be very healthy and beneficial.

I think that the question you researched is viable, however, your post may have been a little more credible if you included more facts and data. I also think your post was lacking a bit of explanation regarding how much red meat is too much; in other words, how much does it take to cause heart failure or death? I found a source
that briefly touches how much red meat one should consume. Overall, I liked the concept you were addressing because it is an important and current issue in today’s society and needs to be addressed. I also agree with you regarding the lack of proof backing up the correlation between consuming red meat and getting diagnosed with cancer.

Red meat is one of the best sources of protein and various vitamins. Also the protein in red meat is different then the protein found in vegetables and other meats. It;s almost like a “high-quality” protein. Lastly, the correlation between red meat and cardiovascular health may be due to how the meat is cooked and what it’s consumed with. The meat itself is virtually harmless. Here’s an article to check out:

I personally love red meat!!! Well, it is good to know that eating too much meat can affect heart and cardiovascular. But what about other meat. For example compare to white meat, is red meat better or not? Because I was told that white meat has less nutrition than red meat. I would like to find that out. Here is an article about white meat and red meat. i believe that red meat effects the heart and cardiovascular the most. Eating too much is bad, but having some is ok. I
