Why am I always tired?

Throughout the day I am constantly exhausted, even when I get a good nights sleep. There are many reasons why one can continuously feel tired, and ways to prevent this constant fatigue.

Not eating right

If you start your mornings with sugary and unhealthy foods, then your blood sugar level can peak and drain you out. Fatty foods and carbs have also been associated with sleepiness. These foods may fill you up, but they lack vitamins and nutrients your body needs to produce energy. should have a breakfast filled with protein, fruits, and vegetables. Not having enough iron can also lead you to feel tired. Skipping breakfast, the most important meal of the day, can also cause this exhaustion. Breakfast kickstarts your metabolism. Some good things to have are oatmeal, eggs, or greek yogurt.

Not drinking enough water

Not drinking enough water is a major cause of exhaustion. Dehydration causes a loss in blood volume, making your blood thicker. “This requires your heart to pump less efficiently, reducing the speed at which oxygen and nutrients reach your muscles and organs.”

On your phone at night

The light from your Iphone can mess up your “body’s circadian rhythm by suppressing melatonin.” You should put all devices away about an hour before you go to sleep. And if you are going to use one, then hold it about 14 inches away from your face.

Anxiety

Anxiety and stress can cause insomnia which leads to fatigue. “A survey by the Mental Health Foundation found that nearly a third of the population are severely sleep-deprived, often because of job and money worries. The Foundation’s report, Sleep Matters, suggests a link between insomnia and low energy levels.” Emotional stress can make you feel drained and also can keep you up at night.

Cures:

Exercising more can cause you to feel less tired. “Exercise breeds energy.” You should exercise at least 40 minutes a day, 4 days a week. Exercise also releases endorphins which will leave you feeling good about yourself.
