Are you a Dog or Cat person?

Every family isn’t complete without a furry friend running around. Even though animals use your house as a bathroom, eat food that smells up the room and need constant attention, they bring endless love for everyone. Almost 70% of households in the United States own a dog or a cat. When deciding to add a furry friend to your family, you have to decide between tons of adorable kittens and vast amounts of adorable puppies. It is important to establish what you are looking for before deciding between a cat and a dog.

Cats:

If you are looking for an animal that pretty much takes care of itself a cat is for you. These cute animals come in many different colors and sizes so you can defiantly find the one that fits your taste. Once you bring this tiny kitten to your home, you will simply show the kitten its litter box and it will never forget again. They never need to be taken outside to use the bathroom; you just need to make sure you change the litter once a week! In addition to changing the litter you will need to make sure you feed your kitten 2-3 times a day so they can grow to be big strong cats. Your new kitten will love to cuddle so make sure you show it your favorite blanket to snuggle up with you. Your favorite blanket will soon turn to the cats new favorite blanket because they sleep between 14-18 hours a day.

On the down side it will be nearly impossible for you to teach your cat how to sit or any other simple command. If you have a family member with allergies a cat is not going to fit in well. A cat sheds a lot. Take it from a fashionista point of view, black will no longer be your favorite color! Cats attack their prey with their long claws that only come out when they feel threatened. Your cat may feel scared or threatened when they hear loud noises or are picked up; this may lead to a painful cat scratch.

Dogs:

If you are looking for a new family member that will bring endless love but need tons of attention a dog is most likely for you. These fun-loving 4-legged animals are best friend material. Dogs are very loyal and stay by their owners through it all. Puppies are like babies; they need help doing pretty much everything. When getting a puppy you are pretty much never off the clock. To potty train a puppy you need to take it out every 30-60 minutes for about 3-4 months, this is until the dog realizes that they are too pee and poop outside and not in your home! Other then potty training you need to teach them what to eat and what not to eat. My dog enjoyed my moms new leather boots instead of his food. A puppy is not ready to be left home alone and not in a crate until they are about 18 months old.

Once completing the first year or so with your new puppy they will turn to be your best friend. Dogs are very smart animals they can learn commands such as sit, lay down, paw, I know one dog that gets the owner tissues when she sneezes. Other then being your best friend they are very good at protecting their owners, they will bark whenever a stranger is around and they feel threatened.

After deciding that a dog is for you, it is time to decide what size and what color and breed. Many different breeds come with many different perks. Some have better memories, some need more exercise, and some even have longer life spans. Their weight can range between 5-150 lbs. Some dogs will shed and some will not. Dogs range in many different colors. Some have short hair and some have long hair. To maintain a good smell and a good fur length, many dogs will need to be groomed monthly. Dogs overall take a lot more time, care and attention.

Either:

Both dogs and cats will make a great attention to your family, but you first have to decide what you are looking for. Both dogs and cats will need to be taken to the vet once a year for an annual check-up and given vaccines. Both animals can bring happiness to many people’s lives and they are easily a human’s best friends. Cats and dogs sometimes do not get along so it is important that if you want to try both a dog and a cat that they get along!

I think I am I dog person considering that I have 3 dogs at home. Dogs are great because they love you no matter what happens. You can yell at them or even accidentally kick them, but either way they still love you. I think thats the beauty of dogs they don’t care what you do for a living or even what you look like, as long as you can feed them and pay attention to them they will love you unconditionally.

I loved this blog so much! I am totally a dog person and have one dog. I love how dogs become your best friend and how you can train them. You can’t really do anything with cats and they mostly stick to themselves. Dogs will latch onto you and follow you everywhere and I think that is so fun. Dogs are the best! Great job on the blog, I enjoyed reading it!!
