Jack Szostak, 2009 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine (telomeres, telomerase), did a Q&A session in class Tuesday. He is currently trying to get biology to emerge from the physical and chemical. Genesis.

I did a debrief with the students today about Jack’s visit. The students had much to say. The most powerful impression: that someone that smart, that successful and doing work that profound could be such a nice person. And that he would take the time to come speak to a class of non-scientist undergraduates. Amen.
Jack said to me in an email he hoped the students enjoyed it as much as he did. He need not worry.
