- Lingzhou Xue received the prestigious 2019 International Consortium of Chinese Mathematicians (ICCM) Best Paper Award, which is one of sixteen best paper awards in mathematics authored by Chinese descendants in 2014–2019. - Alex Chen received the 2019 Patil-Taillie Scholarship for his demonstrated application of statistics in the study of the environment.
- Anna Zhang received the 2019 Erickson Discovery Grant. A total of 78 grants are being awarded this year through the Office of Undergraduate Education. There were 208 applications and the selection process was very competitive.
- Bingyuan Liu received the First Place Award from Student Paper Competition of the American Statistical Association’s Statistics in Imaging Section. The review committee selected one winner and three runners-up from a total of 23 submissions.
- Bingyuan Liu completed the research internship to work on deep learning methods and theory at NEC Research Labs for Summer 2019.
- Xiufan Yu received the Science for Social Good Fellowship from IBM Research to develop artificial intelligence and deep science toward new societal challenges for Summer 2019.
