FYS2: Real Time Chat with Professor

Yesterday I met with my advisor Susie Solo. I met Susie back at my NSO and she helped me create my schedule. At first I was so beyond stressed about making the perfect schedule, but Susie talked me through the process of making a schedule that would best fit what I needed.

Susie told to come and meet with her over the summer a few times to check in with her. So this was the perfect opportunity to set up a meeting with her! When I walked in the door I signed in and chose to see Susie on the sign in board.

When she came out to get me she was excited to see that I stuck to my word! We went back into her office and started talking. She asked how I was doing, adjusting, and if I liked everything so far. When I gave her all positive feedback she was thrilled to know I was doing so great!

I did explain to her though that the homework load is a lot different then it was in high school and it for sure stresses me out on a daily. Sh gave the most perfect response, she told me summer is so much more condensed and my work will be more spread out for the fall. I let out a sigh of relief.

We then talked about my schedule for the fall. I found out the sizes of my class, yet again, I let out a sigh of relief. My largest and only large class is 350 people but only freshman so that was good to hear. My language class, Paris class, and Horticulture class were all around 30 kids. This size class is perfect for me, I will be able to make relationships with my classmates and hopefully my professor.

We then talked about my chance at obtaining extra time for the fall. From kindergarten to my senior year in high school I had extra time along with a few other accommodations for my ADHD. I didn’t think it was very attainable in college but Susie was very adamant that I go to the office of disabilities and see if they can help me out. Having extra time would for sure calm my testing nerves and benefit me as it has since I was a little girl.

Susie and I sadly did not get a picture because we totally lost track of time and I was late to class! So I had to run out of there. But, I plan on going back and seeing her the last week and will for sure snap a picture with my awesome advisor! Susie was such a big help and calmed some of my nerves for fall down. I would recommend anyone to see their advisor every few months to catch up.

I did take a picture of the library on my way though because the lighting was so gorgeous this morning. Here’s the picture from my walk.
