I previously mentioned in last weeks blog post about going to a lake with my friends. But now in this post I’m going to go into depth with what happened…
Me and a bunch of friends decided to turn a beautiful sunny Saturday here at State College into something a little more exciting. We sat around my computer googling different activities we could do. We then discovered Whipple Dam State Park, there was hiking trails, a huge lake, and many boats for lake goers to use.
At around 12 pm we called an uber to the lake, the drive was around 20 minutes to the lake. Once we got there we sat our towels out, put on sunscreen, and tanned. But really, who could sit in the sun for that long, so we decided to jump in the lake, and then go use the paddle boards.
All this time having fun we didn’t even go on our phones, until one of us noticed that we had no service. This is where the story gets bad, we then realized none of us have service. We also have no car. No service, no car, were stranded. When we were ready to leave because it was over 95 degrees outside still we tried to call ubers and had no service whatsoever.
This was the first time I really had no clue what to do. Without service we couldn’t use google maps to get us back to a main road to call an uber. I had no clue what to do. We were hot, hungry, and tired, but then I checked my phone I had one bar! We called a friend back at campus to call an uber for us, and we were finally able to leave.
Whipple Dam State Park is a very beautiful nature filled area and I’d recommend it for people definitely with a car though! After the journey of getting an uber finished off our day with Mexican food, the day trip was a little stressful but getting off campus was super fun!
