Students are a key component of our organization. We are a group of Penn State Altoona students who strive to make all current and prospective students feel welcomed. Every member attends weekly greeter hours, where we chat with prospective students before their campus tours. We also hold various events that promote diversity and inclusivity on campus, such as student panels. In addition, we host bus groups and hold activities for prospective students who visit our campus.
WE ARE proud to be an inclusive organization that is represented through a multitude of cultural backgrounds. Our advocacy for multicultural celebration makes S.M.A.R.T. an integral part of the Penn State Altoona campus.
S.M.A.R.T.ies take the time out of their week to talk to prospective students and parents to answer any questions they may have regarding anything from academics to campus life. As an organization, we not only want to ensure that our prospective students feel welcomed but are proud to represent their unique cultures and ethnicities.
S.M.A.R.T.ies seek to assit with increased recruitment of a diverse student body through the advocation of underrepresented students. We embody the Penn State slogan “All in”. Through recruitment and activities within our organization, we aspire to create and maintain a campus where all students feel represented and celebrated for their prospective backgrounds. S.M.A.R.T. has direct contact with prospective students and their parents. During these activities it is important for each member to remember our recruitment goal and diversity advocacy.
WE ARE a team. WE ARE individuals who work hand in hand to achieve our goals. When working as a team it allows us to operate with a high degree of interdependance and astounding collective performance.
