Outlook Configuration for iOS

The Outlook app available through the App Store is the recommended option for Office 365 on mobile devices. It works very well and is easy to configure.

  1. Download Outlook from the App Store.
  2. Tap the Outlook App and Click get Started.
  3. Enter your PSU email address, abc123@psu.edu and select “Add Account”.
  4. Log into the WebAccess and Duo.
  5. You’re all set!

Native iOS App Configuration

While the Office 365 team recommends using the Outlook app for Office 365 due to ease of setup and design features, you may prefer to use your native mail/calendar clients on your mobile devices. Steps on how to configure your native client can be found below.

  • Open Settings.
  • Scroll down and tap Mail.
  • Tap Accounts.
  • Tap Add Account.
  • Tap Microsoft Exchange.
  • Enter the following information on the Exchange sign-in screen:
    • Email: [Your full email address abc123@psu.edu]
    • Description: ex PSU O365 (NOTE:  The description can be anything you want to name your Penn State Office 365 email account. It should be something you will be able to remember later).
  • Tap Next.
  • Tap Configure Manually – Sign in to your “psu.edu” Exchange account using Microsoft.
    • NOTE:  If you already have a PSU O365 account, you can select “Sign In” and will be taken to the Web Access screen to log in through Penn State web authentication and then through DUO two-factor authentication when prompted to re-enter your password.
  • Enter your Penn State WebAccess password.
  • Tap Next.
    • Your phone will display Verifying for approximately 5 seconds.
  • Enter the following information:
    • Server: outlook.office365.com
    • Domain: [leave blank]
  • Username: userid@psu.edu
  • Password: should already be filled in
  • Tap Next; Save
  • By default, Mail, Calendars, and Reminders will be enabled, with the ability to enable Contacts and Notes.
