On October 28th, members of the WMBA and WIB (Women in Business – Smeal’s Undergraduate Women’s Association) were given the opportunity to participate in a Live Stream Event with Sheryl Sandberg, the author of the highly-talked about book Lean In.  In this event, Sheryl spoke about the perceptual differences between men and women in the workplace, her personal story and what we can do to change these perceptual differences.  Overall, this event was a great way to spark the “Lean In” conversation here at Smeal!  The WMBA hopes to continue this conversation by encouraging everyone to read Sheryl’s book and hosting a book discussion post Winter break.

Having just finished Module 2 finals week, I will share some insight into what to expect for MBA finals. Continue reading

Smeal MBA Net Impact Joins Like Minds in San Jose

You can’t put your hand on a noiseless and odorless bank of fuel cells that is pumping out hundreds of kilowatts of power for the building next door and not believe in its potential. Along with others on the Net Impact tour of Bloom Energy, a group of Smeal MBAs met with Bloom representatives, saw (and touched) the technology, asked a lot of questions, and came away believing it’s a serious innovation for energy generation. Bloom’s fuel cell technology is highly reliable and financially viable—both of which are prompting Fortune 500 companies and others to invest in the energy source.

Rutgers Business School in Newark, NJ is quite famous for its pharmaceutical MBA program. Not surprisingly, the case given to the teams was a Continue reading
