I will be flying to Johannesburg in exactly 3 days and 10 hrs. Yes! That’s exactly how excited I am to go on this trip. I will be flying with twenty of my class mates from New York to Johannesburg for the global immersion trip which is also part of the MBA program. In Johannesburg, we will visit many local and multinational companies, and we will learn more about their businesses and the challenges they face. This exposure will give us better understanding of how to run a business in a politically Continue reading

Here’s what the members said were the best part of the trip: Continue reading

By Tiffani Guerre, MBA Class of 2015

Last night, the Minority MBA Association partnered up with 2 diversity undergraduate organizations NABA (National Association for Black Accountants) and MWF (Multicultural Women’s Forum) to host the event Jeopardy: Black History Edition. We threw this event to educate the Penn State community about Black History facts that they might not have learned before. In the MBA program, there are a lot of diverse students and we wanted to educate them about some history they might not have learned about previously. Questions consisted of topics that ranged from music, movie, inventions, history, Penn State history, etc.  Continue reading

Happy New Year and Welcome Back

This is my second consecutive year living in the United States.  Despite being so close to New York, I missed out on the celebrations at  Time Square New York, last year. I was not going to let it happen again. So, I and a couple of my classmates decided to drive to New York to celebrate the New Year this time around. It was a five hour drive, but we were able to make it fun, thanks to the very inspiring movie ‘Night at the Roxbury’. Continue reading

The Last 100 Days

By Mike Bassani, MBA Class of 2014

It’s coming down to the wire, less than 100 days are left of the MBA experience. It has gone by so fast. It is a cliché to say, but it honestly has. The great thing is that the time has flown by quick, but the relationships I have built with my fellow classmates are very deep-rooted. I think every graduate from this program will walk away with a stronger support system and lifetime friends. For those who don’t have employment, the pressure is definitely mounting. For those of us who have secured employment, it is an amazing time. Personally, I’ve taken the time to grow a massive beard. I’m looking forward to a variety of trips with my close group of friends and working on my golf game (once this weather clears up). It is sad to think that this journey is almost over, but it has been an amazing time. I can only hope that I make as much out of my next challenge as I have done here.

THON is Around the Corner

THONTHON 2014 is 11 days away!  What is THON you ask?  Penn State Dance Marathon, affectionately known as THON, was started in 1973 by Penn State University’s Interfraternity Council.  In its first year, more than $2,000 was raised, with 39 couples dancing for 30 hours straight. Today, it is the largest student-run philanthropy in the world, by involvement and revenue.  Continue reading
