WE ARE! Pleased to announce the State College Solar Tour 2017, organized by the Penn State Chapter of the American Solar Energy Society.

Tour Details

Date: Saturday, October 14, 2017

Time: 1:00pm – approx 4:30pm

Starting Location: MorningStar Solar Home on Penn State Campus

Parking for Starting Location: Grassy tailgating lot, adjacent to the MorningStar Home, off of Porter Rd (see map below). The MorningStar Home is just south of the Medlar Field baseball stadium.

How the tour works: The entire tour group will meet at the MorningStar Solar Home located off of Porter Rd, below Lubrano Park (baseball stadium) at 1:00pm. Tour members will be checked in, given some tour materials and receive a briefing on locations, directions, and parking. We will then have a brief guided tour of the MorningStar Home from the PSU Sustainability Institute. Following that tour, participants will drive themselves to the next tour stop and meet at the specified time. This is how the rest of the tour will proceed until the last stop; from there tour members are welcome to disperse.

In the case that we have a much larger enrollment than past years we will be exploring other options to structure the tour. One option is a shotgun (staggered) start, while still remaining a guided tour. Our second option is to transition to a self-guided tour, starting at the MorningStar Home; this more closely reflects larger tours in much of the nation.

We will post updates concerning the tour structure as people register for the tour and will reach out via email if the tour structure changes. We appreciate your patience as we work to grow the State College Solar Tour.

All tour members are responsible for their own transportation. If you are a student in need of transportation from the MorningStar Home to the following tour stops, please indicate that by selecting the appropriate check box in the registration form below. We have a limited number of seats available.

Register now, but check back for more information and the location of our other tour stops!
