Come join us to work on speech science!
Given the interdisciplinary nature of our questions, the speech core welcomes students from a variety of fields (Communication Sciences & Disorders, Linguistics, Psychology, Languages, Computer Science etc). You will have the opportunity to work with all members of the Speech Core. Whether you’re already at Penn State or considering applying here, do not hesitate to contact navin (at) psu.edu with general questions or other members of the speech core if you’d like to start working with one of us specifically.
Are you at the end of your Ph.D. (or a recent Ph.D.) ?
We are happy to work with interested doctoral students who are planning to solicit funding (e.g.,through NIH’s NRSA post-doctoral fellowships). Please contact one of us to get a sense of the balanced training you could receive at Penn State. In addition the Center for Language Science often has post-doctoral positions available.
Considering Doctoral studies ?
Graduate Students already at Penn State
We often have students from related fields completing lab rotations as part of the dual title in Language Science or simply those who would like to obtain additional training in specific areas (e.g., use of a methodology, working with specific populations etc.). We welcome all inquires from students interested in working with us.
Undergraduate Students already at Penn State
We are always looking for motivated undergraduate students who want to
(a) volunteer as research assistants (Be prepared to spend atleast 6 hours/week)
(b) complete an independent study (e.g., CSD 496) (6 ~ 9 hours/week; usually over multiple semesters)
(c) complete an honors thesis (9 hours/ week; over multiple semesters)
Occasionally, we may have paid positions available. Note that some exciting opportunities may also be available through the PIRE program (details here)
If interested, please write to one of us.
