ILA support not only researcher (and graduate student) but also teachers, affiliate/chapter, and author who contribute to the field of reading and literacy. ILA Elva Knight research grant (Researcher & Graduate student)
- Focus: Research in Reading and literacy
- Budget: Up to $5,000
- Period: Complete within 2 years
- Note: This grant is not considered to develop new programs nor instructional materials. Nevertheless, the case will be considered only if these activities are essential step for the research progress.
ILA Jeanne S.Chall Research fellowship (Graduate students)
- Focus: Reading research including readability, reading difficulty, stages of reading development, and diagnosing and teaching adults with limited reading abilities
- Budget: Up to $5,000
- Period: Complete within two years
- After funded: 1) File an interim report, 2) Encouraged to submit an article for publication in an ILA journal, 3) Encourage to present research findings at an ILA conference, within two years of the award date
Steven A.Stahl Research grant (Graduate students)
- Focus: Support graduate students who study reading and literacy
- Budget: $1,000
- Period: Annually (only one person will be awarded)
- Note for eligibility: applicants should have at least three years of experience in association with classroom research (including action research), related with reading instruction and reading achievement
Constance McCullough International Research Grant
- Focus: Research on reading related problems or improving international professional development activities outside North America
- Budget: $2,000
- Period: Complete within two years; one-year extension may be considered (with request)
- After funded: 1) File an interim report, 2) Compose a final report at the completion of the study
Helen M.Robinson Grant (Graduate students)
- Focus: Support early stages of dissertation research in association with reading and literacy
- Budget: $1,200
- Period: Annually
- After funded: 1) Compose progress report, 2) Submit an article for publication in an ILA journal, and 3) Presentation at an ILA conference, 4) Allow developing material related with reading instruction or literacy, for publication
Eligibility
: A variety of candidate type is considered including researcher (school or university based), graduate student, teacher, and chapter/affiliate. All applicants MUST be current members of the ILA.
