Olivia Heui Young Park joined SPRAL in Fall 2020. Her work with SPRAL focuses on the effects of noise on cognition, perception, physiology, and listening effort/speech intelligibility by implementing realistic acoustic conditions. Olivia received both B.E. and M.E. in Mechanical Engineering from The Cooper Union in May 2020. Her master’s thesis focused on implementing a microphone array for active noise control. She has been actively involved in a cappella groups for the past 8 years, and has performed in orchestras, bands, jazz band/chorus, and musicals. Olivia also is a strong advocate for STEM outreach, and has been teaching students designing and prototyping skills and leading projects in “Engineering for Good.” She currently serves as the student representative for the architectural acoustics technical committee (TCAA) for the national Acoustical Society of America.
