Dr. Christopher Siedlecki, Professor of Surgery and Bioengineering from the Department of Surgery at the Penn State College of Medicine, will talk about novel bioengineering analysis techniques that will be useful in regenerative medicine. The title of his talk is “Cells and materials: analyzing cells on biomaterial scaffolds”.
Dr. Siedlecki’s research is focused on understanding the relationship between the chemical and structural composition of biomedical materials and biology. In particular, how biomaterial properties can affect the growth and function of cells, protein and tissues, with the ultimate goal of developing novel materials for use in medicine. In his presentation, Dr. Siedlecki will introduce a variety of methods available in his lab for creating novel material surfaces, analyzing those surfaces and ultimately driving different biological functions with those materials.
