The Four Diamonds Pediatric Cancer Research Series and SCRBP invite you to a special presentation by Dr. Justin D. Lathia “Targeting Cell Communication in the Tumor Microenvironment” hosted by Dr. Spiegelman, Professor at the Department of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology (x287721).
Dr. Justin Lathia is an Associate Professor at the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Lerner Research Institute of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, OH. His research is focused on cancer stem cells as seeds of metastasis and a source of therapy resistance.
The two main areas of Dr. Lathia’s interest involve using in vivo imaging models to interrogate the tumor microenvironment, and examining communication mechanisms used by cancer stem cell to promote their maintenance. Currently his work is focused on malignant brain tumors, but the technology and interests are applicable to many other tumor types.
The lecture is scheduled on Thursday March 21, at noon, in Lecture Room A (C4618). Lunch is provided by 11:45am.
