“Single-cell transcriptomics of early hematopoietic precursors” – Dr. Jennifer Yang, MD. PhD.

Penn State College of Medicine, 500 University Dr., Hershey, PA 17033

Dear Colleagues,

The stem cell seminar will take place next week, on Tuesday January 14th, at noon in Lecture Room C (C6616).

Dr. Jennifer Yang, MD. PhD. the Assistant Professor from the Department of Pediatrics, Hematology/Oncology and Department of Pharmacology at PennState COM will talk about “Single-cell transcriptomics of early hematopoietic precursors”.

Jennifer Yang did her PhD at the University of Miami, FL and her post-doctoral training at Yale University. During her Ph.D. training, Dr. Yang used Erythroid-Myeloid-Lymphoid (EML) murine cell line and murine bone marrow to study the early hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells, both the function of truncated c-kit and the function of RNA-binding protein Pumilio in stemness.

During her postdoctoral training at Yale, Jennifer studied subpopulations of EML cells during genetic and epigenetic changes associated with cells’ expansion, and different stages of differentiation of normal murine blood stem cells by bulk RNA-seq and single cell RNA-seq. Her work describes the genetic and epigenetic changes in CD34+ cells under the influence of cytokines Epo, Tpo , IL-3, Dexamethasone and Estradiol. Besides studies of hematopoietic stem cells and precursor cells transcriptomics and methylation at single cell level, she also employed a ribosomal profiling method to study functional transcripts and the imbalanced translational ration among different transcripts.

Dr. Yang recently joined the research group of Dr. Suming Huang at PennState COM, and her current studies are dedicated to epigenetic regulation in hematopoietic stem cells and leukemia stem cells.

Please join us next week at the stem cell seminar to learn about single-cell transcriptomics of early hematopoietic precursors.

Lunch will be served at 11:45am as usual.

Sincerely,

SCRBP team.
