The world is an amazing place filled with mysterious places and breathtaking experiences just waiting for exploration. While we all love our homes and familiar surroundings, it is truly remarkable to travel to faraway places and embark on new adventures. One adventure I had the pleasure of taking part in was my family’s trip to Florence, Italy.
As I’m sure many of us have learned, Florence was the birthplace of the Renaissance. Thus, it is home to some of the world’s most beautiful museums, which house breathtaking and famous pieces of artwork. One famous museum I had the opportunity to visit is the Uffizi Gallery. This museum holds artwork from such masters as such as Leonardo Da Vinci and Sandro Botticelli. My favorite piece of art I from the Uffizi was Sandro Botticelli’s Birth of Venus.
During my time in Florence, I was able to explore the Boboli Gardens with my family. These beautiful gardens are located behind the Pitti Palace, which was the main home of the Medici family, a prominent banking family in the 15th century. The gardens are decorated beautifully with vegetation and flowers as well as statues and fountains. Many of the Renaissances most famous progenitors graced these lush and verdant gardens.
My favorite part of the Boboli Gardens is the Bartolomeo’s Fountain of Neptune. This awe-inspiring fountain features Neptune with trident, surround by water and luscious, green bushes and trees.
While I certainly enjoyed the breathtaking artwork of Florence, I found the cuisine remarkable. I’m sure we’ve all head Italian food, whether a pasta dish or a pizza, but I must say nothing compares to the amazing dishes I had while actually in Italy. My favorite dish was penne pasta with salmon in a cream sauce. Hopefully someday I will return to Florence to enjoy the beautiful artwork and big bowl of pasta!
