Week 11: Taking Away

This is the end of the semester post! This whole course has been full of its up and downs, yet here I stand/sit at the end of it all more than ready to go home and celebrate in true holiday fashion: with family, friends, and good food.

This blogging experience as taught me many things. I have learned the value and importance of my words. Everything that I have said, though an assignment, has come from my heart and has had all of my thoughts and personality behind it. People read what I wrote and did not reject it or me, which believe it or not is a new experience. In my free time I am a writer and I have only ever shown my stories to 2 people. One was my mother, so her opinion can hardly be unbiased, however the other person that I showed them to was a friend, or so I thought. She took my work and laughed at it and me, then proceeded to show it in mockery to others. Since then the only people that have seen any writing of mine have been my teachers and professors.

In the beginning, I was hesitant to start this, but now at the end I have found the strength that I once found in words. Seeing the responses to my posts and hearing that people were listening gave me the courage to write more and more. Now I have begun to write again. New stories that I write with confidence and the hope to show others some day.

My future is a happy one in the literary world. I think that I will start my own blog separate of school work. I don’t know what it will be about, but I know that it will be exciting and something to look forward to writing every day. So hopefully I will hear from you in the future. Good luck to everyone <3

RACHEELLLL!!!! I am glad to know that you write. In fact, I do poetry as well, but it’s not always easy to share with people. Can you believe I actually used some of my own poetry in my own blog posts this semester? It’s a big step for me. And you know what? The reason I’m saying this is because it reminds me of YOU, sweetheart. There is nothing better to know that although you were shy at first, you finally got out there and started doing what you were meant to do. And hats off to Prof Anne for convincing us all to do this! Continue writing. NEVER stop. There is no point in hesitation. And even if people don’t think you are amazing at writing, practice more. Because eventually you will become so good at it that there can be nothing to stop you from showing off in the most modest ways possible. Good luck!

I am glad you are going back to celebrate Chrismas with your family, friends, and good food. I read your blogs before and I really like the way you improve your words. I read some article at the beginning of the semester about wedding. I found so many grammar issues there. But as time flies, you found some way to improve yourself and did a great job. I think your mother did not intentionally mean to laugh at you. She might just want to make a prank and have some fun. I think you get the courage to write more and more right now. I think your confidence can improve your writing. I am interested in your writing in the future about the way you want to write it separate of school work. It would be a lot of work. Good luck.

Rachel, just give me a name & address. I’ll beat up your “friend.”

I agree with the above Jeff. If you do start a personal blog, I’d be absolutely thrilled to read it! 🙂

You may not know this, but I’m a writer myself (albeit not a very prolific one), and one of the suggestions I read once is to have a minimum amount of words to write per day. That way you feel accomplished for living up to your reasonable goal, and you don’t get stuck in writers’ block quite so much. You definitely have to let me know if you’re going to start your own blog! I’m always happy to help out a fellow writer, and read works of all kinds.
