For this piece, I used Egon Schiele’s, The Poet, 1911, Oil on canvas as inspiration. The task was to recreate the painting in a very simplistic yet abstract way. I was able to utilize the tutorial on the newMediaWiki and work with some of the simple tools on Adobe Illustrator. Using only the Rectangle and Selection Tools, I pulled what I felt were the most important aspects of the picture. Using the color palette, I decided to embrace the realism approach and picked colors that essentially mimicked the original painting. For this being my first project, I’m pretty happy with the result.
