Hello all! Today I will be examining a topic that I hope to be writing about for my paradigm shift essay: America’s view on welfare. This is a fairly broad topic, but I hope to tackle these main shifts:

1. The founding of America, and how American culture was deeply routed in antigovernmental rhetoric due to middle-class/rich revolutionaries (our founding fathers) not wanting to pay taxes.
2. The expansion of the American government as time progressed, mainly in order to protect rights and expand rights to citizens that the constitution did not already protect.
3. The rise of the welfare state around the world in the 1900s, and America’s steps in trying to adapt to them.
4. Why we failed to keep up with the rest of the world due to our rather archaic societal conditioning of being anti taxes and large government, and how that conditioning has beginning to grow less effective in the the current decade.
