To add the Tech Academy to your existing Canvas Course (like for your First-Year Seminar Course) you can follow the steps below:
- In your Course’s Canvas space, choose the “Import Existing Content” option from the right hand menu.
2. Once in the “Import Content” menu, choose the option to “Copy a Canvas Course” then search for the most recent Tech Academy Content Course. Then, you will want to choose to import “All Content”
3. You will need to be able to see the Tech Academy module in your existing Canvas course. From there you can modify how Tech Academy is displayed with the rest of your course content, along with adding due dates to the assignments.
It’s important the students be presented with Tech Academy in its entirety. Do not remove any portion of Tech Academy without checking with the Tech Academy Working Group first.
If you’ve used Tech Academy in previous years, and you want to copy last year’s Frist-Year Seminar Canvas Course (for example) into this year’s Canvas space, you will want to take a few steps to prepare for importing the new content. This way you don’t copy over the outdated Tech Academy content from previous years.
- When you copy last year’s course into this year’s Canvas space, you will want to choose “select specific content.” Once you click “import” you’ll see a blue “select content” box to the right of your most recent “Current Jobs.”
2. Then you will select the content you want, or don’t want, to import. You will want to review the modules, and make sure you “de-select” the Tech Academy Content. Then click on the “select content” button at the bottom of the pop-up to finalize the import.
you may want to double check your assignments, pages, and quizzes to make sure that the Tech Academy content is gone before you import the updated material.
3. Once the old Tech Academy content is removed, then you can import the up-to-date content.
