ISIS/IBIS/Mainframe Users: TPX INTERFACE TO REPLACE NET-PASS INTERFACE on February 24, 2012

Attention: ISIS/IBIS Mainframe Users – TPX Interface to replace NET-PASS Interface

Because you are an ISIS and or IBIS (mainframe) user, you should have received an e-mail from AIS-SUPPORT about a change in the current way you access the mainframe. (I’ve included the e-mail from AIS-SUPPORT, below.) The entire University will be making this switch. The new TPX interface will replace Net-Pass at the end of the day on Friday, February 24, 2012.

Student Affairs IT does not need to install anything differently on your computer.

For now you will gain access to TPX by going through Host Explorer and typing TPX at the NET-PASS Command prompt. After February 24, 2012, you will go through Host Explorer but only the TPX menu will be available (the NET-PASS Activity Table will no longer be available).

Please review the recommended TPX Quick-Start Guide and TPX Tutorial to assist with the conversion. These can be found on the AIS Web site at: http://ais.its.psu.edu/tpx.asp

TPX questions should be directed to AIS-Support.

Subject: Reminder message: NET-PASS interface replacement [AIS-ID: 48699]

SECOND MESSAGE

AIS systems users,

This message is being sent to you because you currently have AIS access. This includes systems such as ACOM, BCOM, CCOM and others.

The TPX interface will replace Net-Pass for all mainframe systems users at the end of the day on Friday, February 24, 2012.

NetPass is the menu you see when you log into the AIS system. This would be where you choose to enter CCOM, ACOM, BCOM or other AIS applications.

TPX will be replacing NetPass. It is simply a different menu that will be used to get into CCOM, ACOM, BCOM or the other applications. Once you’re in the applications, nothing will change.

TPX and Net-Pass will be available simultaneously until that time. This will give users the opportunity to familiarize themselves with TPX and then make the conversion at their own pace. Users are encouraged to convert as soon as they’re comfortable, but only the TPX Interface will be available after February 24.

We do not expect the conversion to be difficult. TPX is easy to use and is initially set up with a default screen that contains the most-used systems that can easily be personalized for a user’s convenience. ( Note: You might not have access to all of the systems shown on the default screen.

To ensure that the conversion goes smoothly, ITS Training Services has created both a TPX Quick-Start Guide and TPX Tutorial to assist with the conversion. These can be found on the AIS Web site at: http://ais.its.psu.edu/tpx.asp. See the notes below about logging into TPX and using the command keys.

We will issue reminders in the next couple of weeks, and if you have any questions in the interim, please let AIS Support know.

Notes (This information will also be on the Web site):

* To log in to TPX, enter “TPX” at the command line at the bottom of the current Net-pass welcome screen.

* The command keys cannot be assigned to the same PF keys that are used for the TPX sesskey options.

The command keys are the keys at the top and the bottom of the TPX menu page (listed below). The sesskeys are the pf keys you use when logging into the applications or services that you have. If you have the same pf key assigned to command keys and sesskeys, it will only work for one of the options.

Command keys: Cmdkey=PF13 Jump=PF24 Menu=PF15 Print=NONE Cmdchar=# PF1=Help PF7/19=Up PF8/20=Down PF10/22=Left PF11/23=Right H=Cmd Help

Thanks,
