SAIT Maintenance Window – March 2, 2013

In efforts to increase the reliability and recoverability of our services for Student Affairs, SAIT is planning a maintenance window on March 2, 2013 beginning at 7:00 am.  We are expecting to have all items on this project list completed by approximately 7:00 pm on the same day.  Throughout the day there will be intermittent interruptions of the following services:

 

       Printing (to IKON, etc.)

       File services ((H)ome, (U)nit, Division (S)hared, etc.

       Web Access

 

UCS based email services will NOT be impacted.

 

As you can see by the length of time required to make these modifications, we cannot use our normal maintenance window (Monday thru Friday between the hours of 4:00 am and 7:00 am).  Additionally, making changes incrementally over several days is not an option because of the dependencies of each change to the others that must be made.

EMS-Enterprise Events Management Update Scheduled

On Monday, 11/19/2012 between 7am-8am, the EMS-Enterprise Events Management Systems will be updated.

https://reservations.psu.edu will be down momentarily during this time period.

The staff in Student Affairs (HUB, RL, PRCC, CERA, UHS), Arts & Architecture, and the Libraries who have the client installed on their machines will need to have the client updated before using EMS. The desktop client rollouts will start after 8am on Monday. Please contact your appropriate departmental IT staff if your desktop client has not been updated by 9:30am on Monday, 11/19/2012.

If you try to use the previous version of the desktop client you will most likely receive an error notifying you that an update is available. If you don’t receive an error when you open EMS, please check the versions before proceeding:

Interruption of Services (12/27/2011)

Attention:

 

Due to the scheduled power interruption by OPP for the Bank of America building (12/27/2011 from 7AM -5PM) , All STUDENT AFFAIRS SERVICES (email, calendar, web, file) will be unavailable during this outage.  Student Affairs IT will be on-site to coordinate the powering down and eventual restoration of power to all server room equipment.  All services are scheduled to resume by 5PM 12/27/2011.  If there are any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact SAIT at 814.865.7210.  Thank you.

During the migration, all web sites will be unavailable.  This is to allow SAIT to fully test each web site and web application.  During the day as each web site becomes available, updates will be posted to our blog at http://studentaffairsblogs.psu.edu/technology. 

 

In order to prepare for this large web site migration, we are setting up a timeframe when web content changes will not be migrated.  Therefore, all web content changes after 5pm Thursday will not be migrated.  Web content changes can be made after we have posted the completion of our migration on our blog identified above.

Moving files from SAS11

Student Affairs Information Technology (SAIT) is moving files to the new virtual File Server this week.  Each unit is being individually contacted to schedule this important move.  The new storage technology will give staff 20 times the storage capacity that it previously had.  This is good news for staff and we thank you for being so patient during this important project.
