In this speech, I focus mainly on the difference between how US Culture sees the meaning behind the artifact and how Buddhists see it. During the process, I brings up another artifact, which might add a little bit of confusion into the speech. However, I believe that the Just Do It commercial by Shia LaBeouf does make the presentation more fun and engaging without straying away from the main points of the topic.  Moreover, the commonplace in the commercial is delivered in a clear and concise way, which pairs well with the “Never Give Up” t-shirt. After describing the commonplace of the commercial, I moved forward and analyze how the t-shirt is different by comparing normal US’ commonplace to that of a member of the SGI organization. I did this by connecting the term directly to the Buddhists’ commonplace through the daily chanting phrase I mentioned in the introduction, and further elaborating on the meaning of the chant. I believe that this process reminds the audience the origin of the t-shirt because the chant has an unorthodox yet captivating sound. I went further by connecting the chant meaning to the organization’s core beliefs and ideals, which is tightly related with their civic duties as a member of the community.

Overall, I feels like the speech emphasizes not only on the content written on the artifact, but also the commonplaces that is hidden behind it. Moreover, the content of the speech is interesting and educational because it sheds light on a new subject as well as a well-known commonplace, “Never Give Up”.
