First SSS with V

So, I’ve been getting back into some DMC5. It seems like every time I start this game up I learn something new.

The application of V’s devil trigger is a little different from Nero or Dante. The use of it in small bursts has a much bigger return than saving it.

In the past, I thought using the DT gauge in unison with an attack from Shadow or Griffon just gave them a one-time enhanced move. Before this session, I jumped into the void, which is this game’s training room, and found out that that’s not the case.

Using a devil trigger bar basically makes Shadow or Griffon attack automatically for you. I might have missed this in the tutorial when first playing the game, but it sure makes playing as V less of a hassle.

The best part about it is that your demon pets still continue to build bar for you, so there’s really no downside to burning it this way. As you can see in the video, it allows me to basically run around and fiddle with the camera as needed.  I can better identify threats and react accordingly without having to worry about my pets discontinuing their offense.

And then whenever an enemy is ready to be finished off, I just wait for the opportunity and make my move. This without a doubt makes V ridiculously easy to play, and a little boring, but it makes sense. Controlling the pets manually can be a little clunky as you’re both controlling them and V at the same time. This just streamlines things in a reasonable way.

I still find Dante and Nero more satisfying and rewarding to play, but hey, it still feels nice to watch your demon pets go to work.
