On February 8, PPG Paint Arena hosted the youngest, most Grammy award winning artist Billie Eilish. Eilish, only 20 years of age, began her second headlining tour titled “Happier Than Ever;” Pittsburgh being only the second show of the tour, Eilish did not fail to sell the show. Upon entering the stage, Eilish used a trampoline to catapult herself from under the stage, entering into the arena in a unique and memorable way.
Eilish’s stage presence was unlike many artists in current pop culture; commanding the stage with her intense freeform dancing, iconic model-like stances, and uniquely dominating vocals. Alongside Eilish, the stage also featured her older brother Finneas O’Connell (bass and electronics), with their lifelong friend Andrew Marshall (drummer). The authenticity being conveyed between these three individuals created an atmosphere of comfort and genuine camaraderie which impacted the crowd with positive vibes and uncontrollable excitement.
The crowd interaction that Billie Eilish gave towards her fans was easily some of the most genuine and authentic amongst modern-day artists. Eilish made sure to constantly make sure her fans were doing okay and simultaneously having the most fun possible. She consistently interacted with the audience by equally dividing her stage time to separate parts of the stage and also performing three songs from a moving elevated platform towards the back of the arena.
Overall, Eilish is a must-see for anyone who likes her music or even does not like her music. The performance and atmosphere are enough to make anyone have an exciting filled night. Eilish wraps up the “Happier Than Ever” tour at the beginning of April. Get your tickets at www.ticketmaster.com to see Eilish on tour and you will be Happier Than Ever.
