One of Erie’s best rated restaurants is located on Myrtle Street. Standing high with 4.6 stars, Mi Scuzi features many authentic pasta dishes as well as a wine and beer menu. With hand crafted pasta and homemade sauces, the restaurant lives up to its well earned rating.

Upon entering, the atmosphere is noticeably cozy. The small Italian restaurant that was once a house has a warm welcoming feel. The lighting as well as the aroma add to the tranquil feel of the restaurant.

They provide both indoor and outdoor seating for guests as well. On a warm day the outdoor seating is beautiful especially in the evening when the lights are on. If you plan to go to dinner especially on the weekend, be sure to call ahead and make a reservation. Mi Scuzi is very popular and gets very busy around dinner time.

Along with the staff’s general kindness, they are also very helpful with tons of knowledge about each item on the menu. As a starter, each table is given a basket of freshly baked bread covered with butter and freshly grated parmesan. In addition to the bread there are plenty of starters to choose from.

Some of their most popular dishes include the pollo scarpiello, chicken parmesan, and bistecca marsala. The pollo scarpiello is served on a bed of pasta of your choosing and then topped with house made sweet italian sausage, red and green bell peppers, kalamata olives, pepperoncini, onion, garlic, balsamic, and extra virgin olive oil. Created with many ingredients, the dish contains meat, vegetables, as well as pasta, allowing for a balanced dish.

Another of my favorite dishes on their menu is the carbonara. With simple ingredients, this dish is perfectly delicious. It is made with proscuitto de parma, garlic, sweet field peas, cream and reggiano parmesan.

Pasta is not the only fan favorite on the menu, as they also feature a few different kinds of pizzas. These can be ordered as a meal or to share for an appetizer. Either way, if you chose to share, or not, the pizzas are remarkable.

Mi Scuzi also has multiple handmade desserts for those with a sweet tooth. Starting strong with my personal favorite they have a raspberry limoncello torte that is both sweet and citrusy. They also have tiramisu, cannolis, amaretto mascarpone, and spumoni.

From starter to entre to desert there is not lack of detail in any dish that is served in this restaurant. Each plate has been thoroughly and thoughtfully created by their owners and chefs.

This being said, these amazing dishes are not cheap. If you plan to pay Mi Scuzi a visit be sure to bring your wallet. This almost 5 star restaurant has three dollar signs which means it is not deemed inexpensive, with each dish being roughly $30. While that may not seem like too much originally, if you get an appetizer and dessert, it is difficult to keep the price low.

Even though it may be pricey, it is well worth it. There is something for everyone on this small restaurant’s menu. From atmosphere to food to the employees, the overall experience at Mi Scuzi is wonderful. If you are in the Erie area and enjoy Italian food then be sure to make a reservation and stop by.
